How is this show? I never tried it because it doesn't look like there's a big second set medley, but it does have a half-hour playing in the band...

Let's see...November 1972...a half-hour Playing in the Band....and you have to ask "how is this show?"

If I were you, I'd drop everything to hear this Playing....it's the longest of the year.

In truth, the rest of the show is average for the month (somewhat like 11/14/72) - Jerry does sound rather spent after that big Playing.

Since they were in the same city the night before and had played the He's Gone>Truckin>Other One medley, Dark Star was up in the rotation; but for a few shows on that tour, the set II jam was Playing in the Band. On 11/18, they'd do it again, and that version is even wilder than this one - in fact, is probably the most intense one ever played.
(Although the big one from 10/26/72 is also completely insane - at that show, they make the mistake of trying Dark Star afterwards, when they'd played themselves out.)

Anyway, aside from having the first set, this Miller comes from a reel source (his older set came from a cassette), so there's a (very) slight upgrade - and better yet, the tapeflip in Playing is patched, so this Playing is 30 seconds longer than we had before!

Yes agree, nice trippy PITB. The playing is crisp and clean, and it's a long show. (only complaint is Billy's kick pedal is a little loud in the mix.)
